Welcome to Sydney's traditional jazz scene...live jazz in Sydney......Club Ashfield is the venue and with its long residency, The Bridge City Jazz Band is the band....a nominal 4 piece we have three special guests each Friday taking the band up to a 7 piece swinging trad.jazz band...and this coming Friday the 8th September 2017 sees Bill Dudley down from Cairns to lead the band on cornet, Carolyn Packer on boogie piano, Dave Ridyard on tenor saxophone and Jim Fletcher on drums...

Popular Sydney trumpet player and band leader Bill Dudley, now located in Cairns in far north Qld... returns to Club Ashfield this coming Friday 8th September 2017 to lead the Bridge City Jazz Band in league with one of his favourite piano players Carolyn Packer...Dave Ridyard on tenor saxophone replaces for the night Mike Hallam our regular trombone player...
Making a return appearance on the drum stool for us is Bill's drummer, Jim Fletcher....
The usual Bridge City suspects make up the band...Colin Davies, Colin Beal and my self Dennis Quinlan...
It will be a raging night of traditional jazz.....
Put it in your diaries....if you've not been before, check out where Club Ashfield is on the map lower down on this post....

Club Ashfield is at 1-11 Charlotte Street, Ashfield beside the Ashfield Railway station on the northern side and the gig is up on the first floor in the bistro/Charlotte Room function area from 7.30pm to 10.30pm with the restaurant serving nice food until 9pm.....I always eat there on Jazz nights....

Future special guests with the Bridge City Jazz Band at Club Ashfield and other BCJB future gigs...

With the recent passing of Kate Dunbar, Sydney and Australia lost a great jazz singer and a wonderful advocate for jazz music...
We've a musical oriented wake organised for her at Club Ashfield on Saturday 16th September 2017 from 12noon to around 5pm...there will be the opportunity for people to socialise and listen to some music including some singers...hope to see you there...
