Sydney's traditional jazz scene...live jazz in Sydney......Club Ashfield is the venue and with its long residency, The Bridge City Jazz Band is the band....a nominal 4 piece we have three special guests each Friday taking the band up to a 7 piece swinging trad.jazz band...this coming Friday 6th September 2013 we've Kym Till on trumpet with Peter Locke on piano and Chris Gentle on drums...

Kym Till is known in the Sydney jazz scene as an excellent trumpet player and pianist...he plays with the NSW Police Band, so is often hard to get to Club Ashfield as the Police Band is popular and often doing functions on a Friday evening.
But we've got him on trumpet lead for the coming Friday, 6th September 2013 with Peter Locke on the Club's grand piano...
Now this is shaping up to be interesting evening as Peter also plays trumpet, so there could be a set where Kym leads for two tunes on trumpet with Peter on piano and then a reversal with Peter on trumpet lead and Kym on piano...
Shaping up to be a super night....mark it in your diary...
Our other special guest for the night is Chris Gentle on drums and Chris is a regular with the Bridge City Jazz Band...
The four regulars for the band are... John Bates on trombone/vocals, Colin Beal on clarinet/alto saxophone, Colin Davies on double bass and myself Dennis Quinlan on banjo...my last for a few weeks as my wife Judy and I are off to Europe for some weeks holiday...
Cliff Parsons will fill in for me on the banjo chair....
The gig starts at 7.30pm through to 10.30pm in the first floor bistro/function area of Club Ashfield, 5 Charlotte Street, Ashfield...beside Ashfield Railway station on the northern side....
