Welcome to Sydney's traditional jazz scene...live jazz in Sydney......Club Ashfield is the venue and with its long residency, The Bridge City Jazz Band is the band....GOOD NEWS! Club Ashfield re-opens for Trad. Jazz with the Bridge City Jazz Band Friday 4th December 2020

Well with Club Ashfield closing back in March 2020, the good news is Traditional Jazz is back starting again at Club Ashfield on Friday 4th December 2020!!!

Wonderful news for the Bridge City Jazz Band..... with three dates in December- Fridays 4th, 11th & 18th and a break over Christmas & New Year, re starting again on Friday 8th January 2021....

There are some Covid restrictions.... you have to sign in & out of the Club, NO dancing...the dance floor in front of the stage is "fenced off" due to blowing instruments... tables with six people... seating most of the time except to go to the bar to purchase drinks or order food.... so you can't "socially mingle "from table to table.... Sit back and listen to the Jazz you've been starved of  for these 8 months or so.... the catering has changed and I've tried it... nice food, larger range & lower prices...

Christine will be back with the "Club Ashfield BCJB Raffle "...dig deep as this goes to the band & allows us to remain a large band & hire great players as special guests....

So who is playing?

Initially we'll be a 6 piece rather than our usual 7 piece.

Our usual clarinet player, Colin Beal has medical issues that prevent him playing or practicing until at least the end of January 2021...

So for the three December gigs, Mike Hallam will lead the band on trumpet, with Bradley Newman on piano, Colin Davies on double base & myself, Dennis Quinlan on banjo...as follows...

And our special guests for the following dates....

Friday 4th December 2020, David Ridyard on reeds & Jim Morrell on drums...

Jim is 93yo within a week!

Friday 11th December 2020, Paul Furniss on reeds & Chris Gentle on drums...

Friday 18th December 2020, Jack Wiard on reeds & Joel Davis on drums...

Then of course it's.....

MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR from the BCJB.....

Where is Club Ashfield?  1-11 Charlotte Street, Ashfield, beside Ashfield Railway Station..... Jazz on the first floor in the Charlotte Room/ bistro area....

Welcome to Sydney's traditional jazz scene...live jazz in Sydney......Club Ashfield is the venue and with its long residency, The Bridge City Jazz Band is the band....a nominal 4 piece we have three special guests each Friday ...but the COVID19 virus has closed Club Ashfield to Jazz & other events from 20th March onwards

Regrettably Club Ashfield has had to respond to Australian/NSW government requirements in the COVID19 Virus Pandemic and is now closed to all entertainment and associated function.
So there is no Bridge City Jazz Band Jazz for the foreseeable future...
Sadness for musos and all jazz lovers...
