Welcome to Sydney's traditional jazz scene...live jazz in Sydney......Club Ashfield is the venue and with its long residency, The Bridge City Jazz Band is the band....Club Ashfield is now open after the long lockdown ..... the Club has started jazz again & on Friday 24th December 2021...REGRETABLY CLOSED ON THIS DATE, AND FRIDAY 31ST dEC.

 STOP PRESS...... THE GIG BELOW IS CANCELLED BY THE CLUB DUE TO COVID ISSUES...

Well this coming Friday is the 24th December 2021.... yes that is Christmas Eve & the Bridge City Jazz Band's last gig for 2021..... Leading the band is Geoff Power on cornet lead with Ollie O'Reilly on the Club's grand piano, Jim Fletcher on the bands drum kit and filling in for our regular bass player is Roz Mayne on double bass.....

I'm unsure what the night will hold musically but what better way to enjoy Christmas Eve than listening and dancing to a great band playing traditional jazz.... pack your "dancing pumps" for a great night.... 7.30pm to 10.30pm at Club Ashfield, 1-11 Charlotte Street Ashfield, right beside Ashfield Railway Station on the northern side....

And joining our special guests for the night are the Bridge City Jazz Band regulars.... Mike Hallam on trombone, Jack Wiard on reeds & myself, Dennis Quinlan on banjo.....

NOTE....NO JAZZ on Friday 31st Dec.2021, New Years Eve....

We return on Friday 7th January 2022.....

Note you still require to be double vaccinated to enter Club Ashfield .....

 Welcome back to Jazz Violinist George Washingmachine who  leads the Bridge City Jazz Band at Club Ashfield   on  Friday 17th  December 2021 with other special guests , Gary Walford on the Club's grand piano & Laurie Bennett on drums...joining the Bridge City JB regulars  Jack Wiard on reeds, Colin Davies on double bass, Mike Hallam on trombone & Dennis Quinlan on banjo....

Despite the easing of Govt. health regulations on the 15th Dec., to enter the Club you still need to be double vaccinated & have the correct method of showing this.... I've attached a sheet for your reference. A letter from your doctor indicating you are double vaccinated is not legal & if you have only this you will need to visit a Medicare office...this could take an hour... ....

Come back and visit us for a great night of traditional jazz .......

 Mike Hallam our trombone player who is also a great trumpet player leads the Bridge City Jazz Band at Club Ashfield   on  Friday 10th  December 2021 with other special guests Ian Baker on trombone, Bradley Newman on the Club's grand piano & Joel Davis on drums...joining the Bridge City JB regulars  Jack Wiard on reeds, Colin Davies on double bass & Dennis Quinlan on banjo....

Sadly, Colin Beal who played reeds with the Bridge City Jazz Band for some 17 years has passed away...

His funeral service is at a cremation chapel in Woronora Cemetery, Thursday 9th December 2021 at 12 noon......

R.I.P Colin.......
