Welcome to Sydney's traditional jazz scene...live jazz in Sydney......Club Ashfield is the venue and with its long residency, The Bridge City Jazz Band is the band....a nominal 4 piece we have three special guests each Friday taking the band up to a 7 piece swinging trad.jazz band...and this coming Friday the 28th April 2017 see "The bouncing Czech", Jiri Kripac back on trumpet lead with David Stevens on the Club's grand piano and Chris Gentle on drums...

Well, we've Jiri Kripac back at Club Ashfield leading the Bridge City Jazz Band with an old mate of his and ours, David Stevens on the Club's grand piano and a welcome to Chris Gentle on drums...
They join Bridge City JB regulars Colin Davies on double bass, myself Dennis Quinlan on banjo, Colin Beal on reeds and Mike Hallam on trombone.....
Jiri...often called "the bouncing Czech" is sure to have a great night planned for us....








Club Ashfield is at 1-11 Charlotte Street, Ashfield beside the Ashfield Railway station on the northern side and the gig is up on the first floor in the bistro/Charlotte Room function area from 7.30pm to 10.30pm with the restaurant serving nice food until 9pm.....I always eat there on Jazz nights....

Al Davey's back leading the Bridge City Jazz Band on trumpet and later perhaps a little trombone at Club Ashfield on this coming Friday 21st April with our other special guests on the night...Peter Locke on the Club's grand piano and Chris Gentle on drums, adding to the Bridge City JB regulars....Mike Hallam on trombone, Colin Davies on double bass, Colin Beal on reeds and myself, Dennis Quinlan on banjo...

Welcome to Sydney's traditional jazz scene...live jazz in Sydney......Club Ashfield is the venue and with its long residency, The Bridge City Jazz Band is the band....a nominal 4 piece we have three special guests each Friday taking the band up to a 7 piece swinging trad.jazz band...and this coming Friday the 14th April 2017 we are into EASTER and of course GOOD FRIDAY and Club Ashfield is always closed then so there is no jazz that night...we're back the following week, the 21st..

We'll we're into Easter this coming weekend 14-16 April 2017 and the Friday is Good Friday and Club Ashfield is always closed that day, so we have no jazz featured that night...sorry...
But we're back the following week for Friday 21st April with Al Davey, Peter Locke and Chris Gentle as the special guests playing with the Bridge City Jazz Band...re-visit this site from Sat. 15th when I'll have the full nights details as usual....

Welcome to Sydney's traditional jazz scene...live jazz in Sydney......Club Ashfield is the venue and with its long residency, The Bridge City Jazz Band is the band....a nominal 4 piece we have three special guests each Friday taking the band up to a 7 piece swinging trad.jazz band...and this coming Friday the 7th April 2017 at short notice we've the great jazz violinist George Washingmachine on lead with Gary Walford on the piano and Graham Hilgendorf on drums.....

Well "There'll be some changes made" as the old jazz number goes, this coming Friday 7th April at Club Ashfield...with Geoff Bull having to withdraw due to medical issues but as luck has it for us, that great jazz violinist George Washingmachine has stepped up to the plate to replace him and lead the Bridge City Jazz Band with Gary Walford on the Club's grand piano and Graham Hilgendorf on the drumkit as the special guest for the night, joining the Bridge City JB regulars...Mike Hallam on trombone, Colin Beal on reeds, colin Davies on double bass and myself Dennis Quinlan on banjo...

Greg Englert is a diehard Louis Amstrong fan and with Greg leading on trumpet this coming Friday 31st March 2017 there is sure to be a strong Louis influence in the tunes played....the other two special guests on the night at Club Ashfield are Bradley Newman on piano and Chris Gentle on drums.....
They join the Bridge City JB regulars...Colin Beal on reeds, Mike Hallam on trombone, Colin Davies on double bass and myself, Dennis Quinlan on banjo....
