Welcome to Sydney's traditional jazz scene...live jazz in Sydney......Club Ashfield is the venue and with its long residency, The Bridge City Jazz Band is the band....a nominal 4 piece we have three special guests each Friday taking the band up to a 7 piece swinging trad.jazz band...and this coming Friday 15th January we've a big birthday bash for our trombone player, John Bates who is 80...leading the band that night will be Paul Furniss on soprano sax, with Monique Lysiak on the Club's grand piano and Jim Morrell on drums....

Big night on the 15th  January...the Bridge City Jazz Bands trombone player and vocalist John Bates turns 80 and we've a big birthday bash for him...large cake and A3 birthday card with selected sit-ins from muso friends...
Leading the band will be long time muso friend Paul Furniss on soprano sax and reeds, with "Unique" Monique Lysiak on Club Ashfield's grand piano and former Bridge City Jazz Band drummer Jim Morrell on the drum stool for starters......
These of course with "the birthday boy" John Bates...trombone and vocals, Colin Beal on reeds, Colin Davies on double bass and myself, Dennis Quinlan on banjo....
Be a great night with super music for listening and dancing in the traditional jazz mode....
Get your "glad rags" on and come along....

John cuts the cake on his 75th birthday bash from 5 years ago.....
