Welcome to Sydney's traditional jazz scene...live jazz in Sydney......Club Ashfield is the venue and with its long residency, The Bridge City Jazz Band is the band....a nominal 4 piece we have three special guests each Friday taking the band up to a 7 piece swinging trad.jazz band...and this coming Friday 27th June 2014, we've Paul Furniss back leading the band on soprano sax and other reeds with Monique Lysiak on the Club's grand piano and Joel Davis on the drum seat....

Paul Furniss is always a welcome guest player at Club Ashfield and no more so than when he is leading the Bridge City Jazz Band on soprano saxophone.
A powerful player he takes to the lead role that is usually the provenance of a trumpet played with ease....
He was at Club Ashfield last Friday to help Mike Hallam celebrate his 80th birthday...
Mike is pictured with wife Maggie after cutting his large birthday cake....
But as mentioned he's leading the Bridge City Jazz Band this coming Friday 27th June with Monique Lysiak on the Club's grand piano and Joel Davis on drums.....
The usual Bridge City Jazz Band members are all playing...John Bates, trombone/vocals; Colin Beal, reeds; Colin Davies, double bass and myself, Dennis Quinlan on banjo....
Where is Club Ashfield and the gig....??
Club Ashfield is beside the Ashfield Railway Station on the northern side in Charlotte Street, gig on the first floor bistro/function area...7.30pm to 10.30pm...
Future special guests for Club Ashfield and other Bridge City Jazz Band gigs...
