Welcome to Sydney's traditional jazz scene...live jazz in Sydney......Club Ashfield is the venue and with its long residency, The Bridge City Jazz Band is the band....a nominal 4 piece we have three special guests each Friday taking the band up to a 7 piece swinging trad.jazz band...and this coming Friday the 26th May 2017 Dave Ridyard leads the band with another of his "Celebration of 1920's Jazz"...Brad Newman's on piano, Jim Morrell on drums and Gary Kohrman on double bass...

Sad news for Sydney and Australian Jazz Lovers in particular is the death Friday morning 19.05.2017 in Footscray Hospital, Melbourne, Victoria of JOHN BATES..."JB" was the bands trombone player for many years until ill health last October forced his retirement...we've a "wake" in planning...likely Sat. afternoon 8th July2017 at Club Ashfield.....RIP "JB"...

This coming Friday 26th May 2017 at Club Ashfield, we've Dave Ridyard leading the Bridge City Jazz Band on soprano saxophone featuring another of his "Celebration of 1920's Jazz"...Brad Newman's on the club's grand piano, Jim Morrell on drums- with our regular bass player on holiday we've Gary Kohrmann on double bass for the night.....linking up with the Bridge City JB regulars....Mike Hallam on trombone, Colin Beal on alto sax and clarinet and myself, Dennis Quinlan on banjo....
You'll be assured of a great night of traditional jazz....

Future special guests with the Bridge City Jazz Band at Club Ashfield and other BCJB future gigs...

Club Ashfield is at 1-11 Charlotte Street, Ashfield beside the Ashfield Railway station on the northern side and the gig is up on the first floor in the bistro/Charlotte Room function area from 7.30pm to 10.30pm with the restaurant serving nice food until 9pm.....I always eat there on Jazz nights....
