Welcome to Sydney's traditional jazz scene...live jazz in Sydney......Club Ashfield is the venue and with its long residency, The Bridge City Jazz Band is the band....a nominal 4 piece we have three special guests each Friday taking the band up to a 7 piece swinging trad.jazz band...and this coming Friday 8th May 2015...we've an 80th birthday bash....Trevor Rippingale's a special guest & he's on reeds and he's 80! Geoff Power is on trumpet lead, Peter Locke on the Club's grand piano and Jim Morrell's on drums....a super night shaping up!!

Hardly seems 5 years ago that the Bridge City Jazz Band were shaping up to do a birthday special for Trevor Rippingale....
He is now 80 and what a pleasure to have him as a special guest for our big birthday bash for him, celebrating his 80th birthday...he'll play reeds with us and Geoff Power is on trumpet lead with Peter Locke on Club Ashfield's grand piano with Jim Morrell on the band's drum kit...the Bridge City regulars make up the band for the night - John Bates on trombone and vocals, Colin Davies on double bass and myself, Dennis Quinlan on banjo...
Selected sit-ins throughout the night from muso friends who drop in, a large birthday cake to be shared by all attending.....
That includes you....!
And a special large A3 birthday card made up for Trevor with photos of his musical life front and back and space inside to write a few pithy comments....
All we need is for you to come along....

 Club Ashfield is at 5 Charlotte Street, Ashfield beside the Ashfield Railway station on the northern side and the gig is up on the first floor in the bistro/function area from 7.30pm to 10.30pm with the restaurant serving nice food until 9pm.....I always eat there on Jazz nights.... Best of all the admission is FREE....
