Over the Christmas New Year period we will not be playing at Club Ashfield and so there is no traditional jazz on the Fridays...26th December 2014 and the 2nd January 2015... But we are back on Friday 9th January 2015 with special guests, Bill Dudley on cornet and vocals, Bradley Newman on the Club's grand piano and Jim Morrell on drums.... Well this Friday, 19th December 2014 is our "Christmas Special"...the last night we play at Club Ashfield this year......then we are away for 2 Fridays, playing in Swan Hill at the 69th Australian Jazz Convention...returning on to the Club on Friday 9th January 2015... Bill Dudley is our trumpet lead for the night with Gary Walford on the Club's grand piano and Chris Gentle on the bands drum kit...complementing the regular Bridge City Jazz Band quartet up to a 7 piece traditional jazz band. John Bates on trombone, Colin Beal on reeds, Colin Davies on double bass and myself, Dennis Quinlan on banjo.... Bill always has the band swinging so it is a night to come along and dance with us or just listen....
Club Ashfield is at 5 Charlotte Street, Ashfield beside the Ashfield Railway
station on the northern side and the gig is up on the first floor in
the bistro/function area from 7.30pm to 10.30pm with the restaurant
serving nice food until 9pm.....I always eat there on Jazz nights.... Best of all the admission is FREE....

We've the Canberra trio from the old Black Mountain JB playing with us at Club Ashfield this coming Friday 12th December 2014 we are back to being The Black Mountain and Bridge City Jazz Band for the night..... Tony Thomas is on trumpet lead and vocals, Ron Cook on the Club's grand piano, Ian Hill on the band drum kit, John Bates on trombone and vocals, Colin Beal on alto saxophone and clarinet, Colin Davies on double bass and myself, Dennis Quinlan on banjo.... It will be a super night of New Orleans style traditional jazz for you... If you are attending the 69th Australian Jazz Convention at Swan Hill on the Murray River, this band will be playing there for several sets.....

Geoff Power's a multi instrumentalist, Sydney band leader and likes to lead the Bridge City Jazz Band at Club Ashfield which he is doing this coming Friday 5th December 2014 with a pianist he likes to have accompany him, Peter Locke and tasty drummer Joel Davis...all joining with the Bridge City Jazz Band regulars, myself Dennis Quinlan on banjo, John Bates on trombone, Colin Beal on alto saxophone and clarinet and Colin Davies on double bass... As usual will be a swinging night of traditional jazz.....
