Welcome to Sydney's traditional jazz scene...live jazz in Sydney......Club Ashfield is the venue and with its long residency, The Bridge City Jazz Band is the band....a nominal 4 piece we have three special guests each Friday taking the band up to a 7 piece swinging trad.jazz band...and this coming Friday the 25th August 2017 sees the "Canberra Trio" back with us...Tony Thomas on trumpet, Ron Cook on piano and Ian Hill on drums....

Great to have the Canberra Trio back with us as special guests this coming Friday 25th August 2017 at Club Ashfield with the Bridge City Jazz Band...Tony Thomas on trumpet lead, Ron Cook on the Club's grand piano and Ian hill on the band's drum kit... together with the Bridge City Jazz Band regulars...Mike Hallam trombone, Colin Beal reeds, Colin Davies double bass and myself, Dennis Quinlan on banjo...
A great night of traditional jazz with a New Orleans flavour....
And a great chance for us to get together before the following day, Sat.26th August when the complete band plays at the Newcastle Jazz Festival in the Green Room, 11.45am to 12.45pm...

Club Ashfield is at 1-11 Charlotte Street, Ashfield beside the Ashfield Railway station on the northern side and the gig is up on the first floor in the bistro/Charlotte Room function area from 7.30pm to 10.30pm with the restaurant serving nice food until 9pm.....I always eat there on Jazz nights....

Future special guests with the Bridge City Jazz Band at Club Ashfield and other BCJB future gigs...

With the recent passing of Kate Dunbar, Sydney and Australia lost a great jazz singer and a wonderful advocate for jazz music...
We've a musical oriented wake organised for her at Club Ashfield on Saturday 16th September 2017 from 12noon to around 5pm...there will be the opportunity for people to socialise and listen to some music including some singers...hope to see you there...
