Sydney's traditional jazz scene...live jazz in Sydney......Club Ashfield is the venue and with its long residency, The Bridge City Jazz Band is the band....a nominal 4 piece we have three special guests each Friday taking the band up to a 7 piece swinging trad.jazz band...this coming Friday 12th July sees the band led by George Washingmachine...acclaimed Jazz violist with Gary Walford on piano, Harry Harman and Lawrie Thompson our other special guests...

Well this is a first for the Bridge City Jazz Band... we've acclaimed jazz violinist George Washingmachine leading the band and playing piano with him on Club Ashfield's grand piano is Gary Walford...George often plays at Gary's gig at the Unity Hall Hotel Sunday afternoons.
Our regular bass player Colin Davies is away for four Fridays in the UK and this Friday its a pleasure to have Harry Harman OAM on double bass...Harry was in the inaugural Paramount Jazz Band in 1953 playing for the Sydney Jazz Club, which incidentally is the 3rd oldest continuously running jazz club in the world and celebrates it's 60th this coming August with a Sunday concert at "99 on York". Then we've Lawrie Thompson, a favourite drummer of mine, taking the drum stool for the night...
The three regular Bridge City JB members, John Bates on trombone and vocals, Colin Beal on reeds and myself Dennis Quinlan on banjo will make a rip roaring 7 piece jazz band...
Will we see you in our audience on the night?...boy I'm sure looking forward to it...

The gig of course is at Club Ashfield, Friday evenings, 7.30pm to 10.30pm, 5 Charlotte St., Ashfield in the first floor bistro/function area....

Future special guests with the Bridge City JB at Club Ashfield.....
