Welcome to Sydney's traditional jazz scene...live jazz in Sydney......Club Ashfield is the venue and with its long residency, The Bridge City Jazz Band is the band....a nominal 4 piece we have three special guests each Friday taking the band up to a 7 piece swinging trad.jazz band...and this coming Friday the 23rd December is our final night for the year...likely to be a little "Christmassy" with Mike Hallam leading on trumpet, Eric Gibbons on trombone, Gary Walford on piano and Jim Morrell on drums...

Well its a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all those who follow this website and perhaps pop along to Club Ashfield on a Friday evening to hear the band.....
Firstly there is NO JAZZ AT THE CLUB next Friday 30th December.....
We've Mike Hallam on trumpet lead on the coming 23rd December at Club Ashfield and starting with us on our first evening in 2017, Friday 6th January, Mike will become our regular trombone player with John Bates relinquishing the position due to medical issues...John was with us for years , a great player and a huge asset to the band.....thanks John from all of us...
Gary Walford is on the Club's grand piano, Eric Gibbons is down from Newcastle to play trombone and perhaps a solo or two on bent soprano saxophone....
A former band member and no occasional drummer for us, Jim Morrell is on the bands drum stool...
Or regular band members, Colin Beal on reeds, Colin Davies on double bass and myself, Dennis Quinlan on banjo complete the band to the regular traditional seven piece jazz band....
Come along and finish the year off with us...

Club Ashfield is at 1-11 Charlotte Street, Ashfield beside the Ashfield Railway station on the northern side and the gig is up on the first floor in the bistro/Charlotte Room function area from 7.30pm to 10.30pm with the restaurant serving nice food until 9pm.....I always eat there on Jazz nights....

Best of all the admission is FREE....

Future special guests with the Bridge City Jazz Band at Club Ashfield and other BCJB future gigs...
