Welcome to Sydney's traditional jazz scene...live jazz in Sydney......Club Ashfield is the venue and with its long residency, The Bridge City Jazz Band is the band....a nominal 4 piece we have three special guests each Friday taking the band up to a 7 piece swinging trad.jazz band...and this coming Friday the 29th July we're having Paul Furniss of soprano sax and reeds lead, Rachel Hamilton on piano, Craig Goeldner bass and Chris Gentle on drums.....

This coming Friday 29th July we've Paul Furniss leading the Bridge City Jazz Band on soprano sax and other reeds at Club Ashfield....Rachel Hamilton will be on the Club's grand piano and Craig Goeldner on sousaphone with Chris Gentle on drums... and with the regular Bridge city JB musos, John Bates on trombone, Colin Beal on reeds and myself Dennis Quinlan on banjo we all make up the swinging traditional jazz band for the night....
Imminently "dance able"....
With the recent death of "Stan the Man"...Stan Allworth.. who was involved years ago with the Vanity Fair Hotel jazz mob, dabbling in saxophone, Paul intends to make some of the evening a tribute to Stan with numbers he liked and Paul has Stan's saxophone and will play it on the night....

Future special guests with the Bridge City Jazz Band at Club Ashfield and other BCJB future gigs...

Club Ashfield is at 1-11 Charlotte Street, Ashfield beside the Ashfield Railway station on the northern side and the gig is up on the first floor in the bistro/Charlotte Room function area from 7.30pm to 10.30pm with the restaurant serving nice food until 9pm.....I always eat there on Jazz nights....
Best of all the admission is FREE....
