Welcome to Sydney's traditional jazz scene...live jazz in Sydney......Club Ashfield is the venue and with its long residency, The Bridge City Jazz Band is the band....a nominal 4 piece we have three special guests each Friday taking the band up to a 7 piece swinging trad.jazz band...and this coming Friday 11th March we've a 70th "birthday bash" for Sydney Jazz Banjoist Paul Baker with Al Davey on trumpet lead, Monique Lysiak on the Club's grand piano, Kym Till on trombone and Jim Morrell on drums....

Paul Baker has been around  the Sydney Jazz scene for more years than he's prepared to remember and he's finally made 70..."out of warranty" as I'm often wont to say.....so we've a big birthday bash for him this coming Friday 11th March 2016 at Club Ashfield with Al Davey on trumpet lead, Monique Lysiak on piano, Kym Till on trombone  and Jim Morrell on drums joining some of the Bridge city Jazz Band  regulars, Colin Beal on reeds and  Colin Davies on double bass.
These nights are always a great night of traditional jazz with selected sit-ins from other musos in Paul's past..and present who'll play in a set or so.....
Dancing shoes packed, glad rags on...see you next Friday....

"PB" at his 65 birthday bash also at Club Ashfield...

Future special guests with the Bridge City Jazz Band at Club Ashfield and other BCJB future gigs...

Club Ashfield is at 1-11 Charlotte Street, Ashfield beside the Ashfield Railway station on the northern side and the gig is up on the first floor in the bistro/function area from 7.30pm to 10.30pm with the restaurant serving nice food until 9pm.....I always eat there on Jazz nights....
Best of all the admission is FREE....
