Sydney's traditional jazz scene...live jazz in Sydney......Club Ashfield is the venue and with its long residency, The Bridge City Jazz Band is the band....a nominal 4 piece we have three special guests each Friday taking the band up to a 7 piece swinging trad.jazz band...this coming Friday 11th October 2013, then Sunday 13th October sees members of the former Canberra based Black Mountain Jazz Band join up with the BCJB...leading on trumpet is Tony Thomas....

We always welcome the Canberra trio as I call them...the last of the former Black Mountain Jazz Band joining with us for the weekend...as The Black Mountain and Bridge City Jazz Band playing of course at Club Ashfield, 5 Charlotte Street Ashfield beside Ashfield Railway Station in the first floor bistro area, 7.30pm to 10.30pm, then on Sunday 13th, weather permitting, at The Pines on the Old Northern Road just through Dural, 12.30pm to 4pm....
Two great venues and opportunities to hear the band...the Pines function has a modest admission fee...around $10 from memory...
Tony Thomas is leading us on trumpet and vocals, Ron Cook on piano and then keyboard and Ian Hill on drums, The Canberra Trio make up the special guests for the weekend with the usual BCJB crew....Colin Davies on double bass, Colin Beal on alto sax and clarinet, John Bates on trombone and vocals and Dennis Quinlan on banjo....
A band with a slight new Orleansy traditional Jazz flavour...
