Welcome to Sydney's traditional jazz scene...live jazz in Sydney......Club Ashfield is the venue and with its long residency, The Bridge City Jazz Band is the band....a nominal 4 piece we have three special guests each Friday taking the band up to a 7 piece swinging trad.jazz band...and this coming Friday 30th May 2014,we have leading the band, Bill Dudley on cornet, Carolyn Packer on the Club's grand piano and Jim Morrell on drums....

I've said it before and it's happening again....Bill's back!

We've Bill Dudley leading the Bridge city Jazz Band on cornet at Club Ashfield, 5 Charlotte St., Ashfield with Carolyn Packer, a great exponent of boogie piano and evergreen Jim Morrell on the drum kit....
Promises, as always to be a great night...come along....
The regular Bridge City JB crew are there, John Bates on trombone/vocals, Colin Beal on clarinet and alto saxophone, Colin Davies on double bass and myself, Dennis Quinlan on banjo....
Up on the first floor of the Club in the bistro/function area, with the gig starting 7.30pm to 10.30pm.....

If you like your traditional jazz with a New Orleans style and flavour, this coming Friday 23rd May is for you with New Orleans jazz specialist Geoff Bull leading the Bridge City Jazz Band at Club Ashfield.
His mate Gary Walford is on the Club's grand piano and Graham Hilgendorf is on drums...
These form the special guests on the night complementing the regular Bridge City Jazz Band members, John Bates on trombone/vocals, Colin Beal on alto saxophone and clarinet, Colin Davies on double bass and myself Dennis Quinlan on banjo....
The night will ooze New Orleans and swing like buggery....

At 5 Charlotte Street, Ashfield beside the Ashfield Railway Station on the northern or Parramatta Road side....
The gig is on the first floor of the Club in the bistro/function area and runs from 7.30pm to 10.30pm....admission is free.

Welcome to Sydney's traditional jazz scene...live jazz in Sydney......Club Ashfield is the venue and with its long residency, The Bridge City Jazz Band is the band....a nominal 4 piece we have three special guests each Friday taking the band up to a 7 piece swinging trad.jazz band...and this coming Friday 16th May 2014, Ron Cook on piano and Ian Hill on drums...The Black Mountain and Bridge City Jazz Band in action!!!. Then on the Sunday 18th the band plays at "The Pines", Dural 12.30pm-4pm...

We always like the Canberra trio, the last of the old Black Mountain Jazz band to come up to Sydney to play with the Bridge City Jazz Band at Club Ashfield...
A great 7 piece traditional jazz band with a New Orleans flavour...The Black Mountain and Bridge city Jazz Band.....
This coming Friday 16th May 2014 sees us together again at Club Ashfield with a further gig on the Sunday 18th May at "The Pines", Old Northern Road, Dural, some 300 metres though the village, with it being an open air gig you'd have to keep an eye on the weather as they could cancel it during the early morning...
Of course the band is Tony Thomas on trumpet lead/vocals, Ron cook on the club's grand piano, Ian Hill on the band drum kit with John Bates, trombone/vocals, Colin Beal clarinet and alto saxophone, Colin Davies on double bass and myself, Dennis Quinlan on banjo.
As usual it will "swing like a dunny door in a southerly..."

5 Charlotte Street, Ashfield beside Ashfield Railway Station on the northern or Parramatta Road side...the gig is on the first floor in the bistro/function area from 7.30pm to 10.30pm...Free Admission...
Where is The Pines?
300 metres through Dural on the Old Northern Road...a large stand of Norfolk Island pine trees on the left, just before a Leagues type Club.... 12.30pm to 4pm, bring your own lunch, drinks...tables and chairs provided and the information kiosk has tea.coffee and some devonshire teas....

Welcome to Sydney's traditional jazz scene...live jazz in Sydney......Club Ashfield is the venue and with its long residency, The Bridge City Jazz Band is the band....a nominal 4 piece we have three special guests each Friday taking the band up to a 7 piece swinging trad.jazz band...and this coming Friday 9th May 2014, Greg Poppleton's Bakelite Broadcasters join up with The Bridge City Jazz Band....

This is the second time we've invited Greg Poppleton with his Bakelite Broadcasters to join up with the Bridge City Jazz Band as our special guests......
Greg sings in the 1920's style and features music from that era.....so we'll have a range of styles on the forthcoming Friday 9th May, with Greg singing during each set, Al Davey on trumpet lead, and making his debut at Club Ashfield is Bradley Newman on piano...Bradley has played piano with my Sydney Banjo Band for months now and we are looking forward to his entry into the band scene....the drum stool is taken by a regular of ours, Graham Hilgendorf....
The usual Bridge City Jazz Band regulars make up the band...John Bates on trombone, Colin Beal on reeds, Colin Davies on double bass and myself, Dennis Quinlan on banjo....
