We're back!! Live Traditional Jazz, live jazz in Sydney....The Bridge City Jazz Band plays at Club Ashfield this coming Friday 4th January 2013 with special guests, Geoff Power on cornet; Peter Locke on piano and Joel Davis on drums......

After a week at the 67th Australian Jazz Convention at Forbes in SW NSW, the Bridge City Jazz Band starts the year off on Friday 4th January 2013 at Club Ashfield with special guests for the evening ...Geoff Power on cornet lead, Peter Locke on piano and Joel Davis on drums....
What a band.... swings like a dunny door is the old term....
Regulars, John Bates on trombone and vocals, Colin Davies double bass, Colin Beal reeds, and myself Dennis Quinlan on banjo......
Club Ashfield...?? The home of traditional Jazz in Sydney, perhaps NSW is at 5 Charlotte Street, Ashfield beside the Ashfield railway station on the northern side...the gig starts at 7.30pm through to 10.30pm, we play on the first floor bistro/function area.

Live traditional Jazz in Sydney at Club Ashfield...NO JAZZ FRIDAY 28TH DECEMBER 2012, as the band is in Forbes at the 67th Australian Jazz Convention....

This coming Friday, 28th December 2012 is one of the few Fridays the Bridge City Jazz Band is not playing at Club Ashfield....
That's right, there is no Jazz Friday 28th December 2012, but we'll be back on Friday 4th January 2013.....
Geoff Power,tpt; Peter Locke, piano and Joel Davis are the special guests...but visit this site again just after the 28th Dec. and there will be full details....
So, hope you have or had a Merry Christmas and are going into 2013 with a Happy New Year....

Live Sydney Jazz...traditional Jazz this Friday 21st, last for the year, at Club Ashfield- Bill Dudley leads the band with Gary Walford on piano and Joel Davis on drums....

We had John Wilson booked for this coming Friday, 21st December 2012 as trumpet lead, but ill health has forced his cancellation and a popular regular, Bill Dudley, cornet in hand will come along to replace John and lead the Bridge City Jazz Band with Gary Walford on the Club's grand piano and Joel Davis in the drum seat....
The night, the last before Christmas and for this year 2012...there is no Jazz at Club Ashfield on Friday 28th December, but this night promises to "swing like a dunny door in a southerly!"....
The main part of the band are off to the 67th Australian Jazz Convention at Forbes in SW NSW from 26th to 31st December.....Thats John Bates, trombone, Colin Beal reeds, Colin Davies double bass and myself Dennis Quinlan on banjo....

Traditional and Live Jazz in Sydney....this coming Friday, 14th December, at Club Ashfield sees a big birthday bash to celebrate the 85th birthdays of two well known Jazz personalities....Harry Harman OAM and Jim Morrell......we've a great lineup to start the evening rolling...

The Bridge City Jazz Band has run "birthday bashes" for numerous musicians as they come on to "significant" birthdays...you know...a birthday ending in 0 or a 5....
Well we've two musos who are each 85 around mid December and we're kicking up a storm for them on Friday 14th December....
Geoff Power on trumpet/cornet, Frank Watts on piano, the regular Bridge City guys and the two specialties...Harry Harman on double bass and Jim Morrell on drums....
They'll start the night off and I'll arrange special sit-in bands for several of the sets....
We've a really big birthday cake for the two of them that we'll cut around 9pm and I've a giant birthday card for each of them, covered with photos of their lives and space inside for you to write nice things...
All we need is you there....
