Welcome to Sydney's traditional jazz scene...live jazz in Sydney......Club Ashfield is the venue and with its long residency, The Bridge City Jazz Band is the band....a nominal 4 piece we have three special guests each Friday taking the band up to a 7 piece swinging trad.jazz band...and this coming Friday 5th February we've Greg Englert back again with us on trumpet lead with Bradley Newman on piano and Chris Gentle on drums....

It was some years since we'd invited Greg Englert back to lead the Bridge City Jazz Band at Club Ashfield and he was with us late last year and we had a great night of traditional jazz...so he's back leading the band this coming Friday 5th February with Bradley Newman on the Club's grand piano and Chris Gentle is with us on drums......
The add to the Bridge City JB regulars to make a nice 7 piece traditional jazz band...John Bates on trombone/vocals, Colin Beal on reeds, Colin Davies on double bass and myself, Dennis Quinlan on banjo....
come join us for a great night of listening and dancing.....



 Club Ashfield is at 1-11 Charlotte Street, Ashfield beside the Ashfield Railway station on the northern side and the gig is up on the first floor in the bistro/function area from 7.30pm to 10.30pm with the restaurant serving nice food until 9pm.....I always eat there on Jazz nights....  
Best of all the admission is FREE....

Mike Hallam's back with the Bridge City Jazz Band at Club Ashfield this Friday 29th January 2016 leading the band on trumpet and in the usual "sit-in" set will likely change to trombone...Bradley Newman is on the Club's grand piano with Craig Lee on the bands drum kit...they complement the usual Bridge city JB regulars, Colin Beal on reeds, Colin Davies on double bass, Dennis Quinlan on banjo and John Bates on trombone/vocals......
A great night of traditional jazz, super for dancing....come along...

George Washingmachine is a popular jazz artist around Sydney and in Cuba as it turns out as he was in Havana over Christmas playing jazz....
Well he's back at Club Ashfield this coming Friday 22nd January 2016 with his buddy Gary Walford on the Club's grand piano and tasteful drummer Graham Hilgendorf on the drum stool...these are the special guest for the night with the Bridge City JB regulars, John Bates on trombone/vocals, Colin Beal on reeds, Colin Davies on double bass and Dennis Quinlan on banjo....

Welcome to Sydney's traditional jazz scene...live jazz in Sydney......Club Ashfield is the venue and with its long residency, The Bridge City Jazz Band is the band....a nominal 4 piece we have three special guests each Friday taking the band up to a 7 piece swinging trad.jazz band...and this coming Friday 15th January we've a big birthday bash for our trombone player, John Bates who is 80...leading the band that night will be Paul Furniss on soprano sax, with Monique Lysiak on the Club's grand piano and Jim Morrell on drums....

Big night on the 15th  January...the Bridge City Jazz Bands trombone player and vocalist John Bates turns 80 and we've a big birthday bash for him...large cake and A3 birthday card with selected sit-ins from muso friends...
Leading the band will be long time muso friend Paul Furniss on soprano sax and reeds, with "Unique" Monique Lysiak on Club Ashfield's grand piano and former Bridge City Jazz Band drummer Jim Morrell on the drum stool for starters......
These of course with "the birthday boy" John Bates...trombone and vocals, Colin Beal on reeds, Colin Davies on double bass and myself, Dennis Quinlan on banjo....
Be a great night with super music for listening and dancing in the traditional jazz mode....
Get your "glad rags" on and come along....

Welcome to Sydney's traditional jazz scene...live jazz in Sydney......Club Ashfield is the venue and with its long residency, The Bridge City Jazz Band is the band....a nominal 4 piece we have three special guests each Friday taking the band up to a 7 piece swinging trad.jazz band...and this coming Friday 8th January, the first for the band for 2016 we've popular Sydney trumpeter Geoff Power leading the band with Peter Locke on the Club's grand piano and Joel Davis on drums.....

Well a Happy New Year to all of you from myself and all in the Bridge City Jazz Band....
Most of the band attended the 70th Australian Jazz Convention during the Christmas - New Year period which was in Ballarat, Victoria a City that last saw the convention 30 years back.....
Played with other muso friend in a few bands and listened to many others...great stuff...
Greater stuff is the band back in action at Club Ashfield this coming Friday 8th January 2016 7.30pm to 10.30pm with popular trumpeter Geoff Power leading the band and Peter Locke on the Club's grand piano and Mr Smoothie, Joel Davis on the drum stool as the bands special guests and complementing the regulars.....myself, Dennis Quinlan on banjo....Colin Davies on double bass... Colin Beal on reeds and John Bates on trombone/vocals...
All we need is your good selves and friends to make up a great audience for some super traditional jazz.....
