Welcome to Sydney's traditional jazz scene...live jazz in Sydney......Club Ashfield is the venue and with its long residency, The Bridge City Jazz Band is the band....a nominal 4 piece we have three special guests each Friday taking the band up to a 7 piece swinging trad.jazz band...and this coming Friday 5th June 2015..Multi instrumentalist Mike Hallam leads the band on trumpet with the great Newcastle couple Rachel Hamilton on the Club's grand piano & Craig Goeldner on double bass and Jack Wiard on clarinet and Joel Davis on drums...two of the regular Bridge City guys are away....

Good to have Mike Hallam lead the Bridge City Jazz Band at Club Ashfield this coming Friday night 5th June....with several of our regular core band away, we've five guests...the great Newcastle musical couple Rachel and Craig...Rachel on piano and Craig on double bass and Jack Wiard on reeds and Joel Davis on drums completing the guest list, leaving John Bates on trombone and vocals and myself Dennis Quinlan on banjo....

Club Ashfield is at 5 Charlotte Street, Ashfield beside the Ashfield Railway station on the northern side and the gig is up on the first floor in the bistro/function area from 7.30pm to 10.30pm with the restaurant serving nice food until 9pm.....I always eat there on Jazz nights.... Best of all the admission is FREE....

Geoff Bull all his musical life has been a proponent of the New Orleans style of Jazz and he's here again leading the Bridge City Jazz Band on trumpet at Club Ashfield, so the night is sure to have that New Orleans flavour....musically....
Gary Walford on the Club's grand piano aptly fits in with Geoff as does Jim Morrell on drums...
The Bridge City Jazz Band regulars, John Bates on trombone/vocals, Colin Davies on double bass, Colin Beal on reeds and myself Dennis Quinlan on banjo always look forward to melding into a tight seven piece jazz band with the special guests....
Come along for a listen and to dance....

Welcome to Sydney's traditional jazz scene...live jazz in Sydney......Club Ashfield is the venue and with its long residency, The Bridge City Jazz Band is the band....a nominal 4 piece we have three special guests each Friday taking the band up to a 7 piece swinging trad.jazz band...and this coming Friday 22nd May 2015...Sydney's great Jazz violinist, George Washingmachine leads the band with Gary Walford on piano and Graham Hilgendorf on drums....

We're lucky to have popular jazz violinist George Washingmachine join the Bridge City Jazz Band several times a year to lead the band at Club Ashfield and this coming Friday 22nd May is one of those nights.....
Gary Walford is on the Club's grand piano with us and Graham Hilgendorf on drums all join with the Bridge City Jazz Band regulars for a great night of jazz....

Welcome to Sydney's traditional jazz scene...live jazz in Sydney......Club Ashfield is the venue and with its long residency, The Bridge City Jazz Band is the band....a nominal 4 piece we have three special guests each Friday taking the band up to a 7 piece swinging trad.jazz band...and this coming Friday 15th May 2015...we are playing as the Black Mountain and Bridge City Jazz band with Tony Thomas on trumpet lead and Ron Cook on piano. Both from Canberra with Jim Morrell on drums....

This coming Friday 15th May 2015 is a combination we like to play as.....
Up from Canberra are two former members of the Black Mountain Jazz Band...Tony Thomas on trumpet lead and Ron Cook playing Club Ashfield's grand piano with evergreen Jim Morrell on the drum stool...complementing and taking the band to a seven piece traditional jazz band with a New Orleans flavour are John Bates on trombone/vocals, Colin Beal on reeds, Colin Davies on double bass and Dennis Quinlan on banjo.....
Always a swing, danceable night.....
And the band as such plays on the Sunday 17th at The Pines, Old Northern Road, Dural 12.30pm to 4pm with Chris Gentle replacing Jim as the drummer...as this is an outdoors gig it is weather dependent and there is a cover charge of $15/head....
