Live traditional, danceable Jazz in Sydney....!! Club Ashfield is the venue and with its long residency, The Bridge City Jazz Band is the band....a nominal 4 piece we have three special guests each Friday taking the band up to a 7 piece swinging trad.jazz band...this coming Friday 17th May sees the band hosting a big double birthday bash for singer Kate Dunbar...she's 90 and reed player, Jack Wiard...he's 70.....

We've hosted birthday bashes for popular traditional Jazz muso's for over 8 years now and this coming Friday, 17th May see this as one of the more memorable ones....
Kate Dunbar..Australian Jazz icon, OAM for services to jazz, still running her weekly Singers Workshop , and still with  a great voice.....
Kate turns 90 on 13th May....
Jack Wiard, born and educated in Lodi, Ca, USA and came to Sydney as a young man and stayed...a great reeds player.....has a residency with the Robbers Dogs Jazz Band...
Jack turns 70 on 12th May....
Geoff Power leads the band on cornet with Frank Watts on piano and Jim Morrell on drums as the other special guest...regulars John Bates, trombone and vocals, Colin Davies on double bass and myself, Dennis Quinlan on banjo make up the band for the night.....
Believe me it will be some night.....
Selected sit-ins, a really large birthday cake for all present to sample after Kate and Jack cut it and both with large A3 birthday cards, suitably illustrated with photographs of their life and room for the audience....and we hope you will be one....to sign....
Club Ashfield, 5 Charlotte Street, Ashfield beside the Ashfield Railway Station on the north side...on the first floor in the bistro/function area...7.30pm to 9.30pm....Admission FREE.
